Kwara State Government Denies @BudgIT Report on Salary Arrears

Contrary to report released by BudgIT yesterday, the Kwara State government says that it does not owe its workers three months’ salary.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu, who provided the clarification, said that the only outstanding salary is that of April.

While attributing the delay to the huge drop in federal allocation and the need to augment the funds with IGR, Ahaji Banu revealed that the workers’ April salary will be paid today, Friday 29.

He said the N1.519b federal allocation received by the state for March was far less than the N2.4 billion required for salaries, pensions, and overheads.

The Commissioner also disclosed outstanding salaries at the State water corporation and other parastatals will be paid next week.
