#FakeNews: KwaraLefro Commends Charly Boy For Apologizing To Saraki On Lafiaji Visit
Lies cannot be disguised as truth. Truth has no other name rather than truth and no matter how sumptuous a lie is packaged people of sound mind will not consume it.
This assertion is very akin to a fake news posted on Twitter and Facebook by Sahara Reporters, where a picture of the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Saraki cleaning his shoe was captioned “Saraki cleaning his body after he escaped an attack during his visit to the Lafiagi, the headquarters of Edu Local, Kwara State.”
The information which Sahara Reporters attached to the picture was a blatant lie and did not in any way relate to the picture it was attached to.
There are two things to note: Saraki actually visited Lafiagi just of recent on a Friday in a native attire (White Agba) and not in a jeans and shirt. He was warmly received by the people of Lafiagi. On the said day; the people of Lafiagi also urged him to observe Juma’at service with them, an offer he accepted without hesitation.
Secondly, the said picture, with shirt and jeans, was actually taken when the Senate President who was the then Chairman Senate Committee On Environment and Ecology in the 7th Senate, and his team visited Ogoni land in Rivers state to have first-hand information about the oil spillage by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and see how government could clampdown on the oil company to cleanup the polluted environment.
To our dismay, as usual, this fake news was consumed by the popular musician, Charly Boy, to the extent that he even reposted it last night with his Twitter handle (@areafada1). To show that everything about Sahara Reporters is fake, the post had not stayed online up till one minute before Nigerians started lambasting, educating and catigating him (Charly Boy). This morning, having done his personal research and found out that the post was a fallacy, Charly Boy tendered a public apology to the Senate President via the same medium (twitter) showing the rest of the pictures of Saraki at Ogoniland in 2012. This is indeed commendable!
It is on this note that Kwara Legacy Frontiers, a group of young Kwarans passionate about the development of Kwara state and harmonious coexistence of Kwarans, commends Charly Boy for not only admitting his fault but also tendering public penitence before the Senate President. This is indeed worthy of emulation by the paid critics of the Senate President who are on the bills of anti-Saraki forces to subject him to pubic ridicule and pull him down by hook or crook.
