APC Spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi Harps on Youth Development
The National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi has identified youth development as critical to the development and progress of Nigeria.
Abdullahi who said this yesterday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital during an interactive session with a youth-led group, who paid him a courtesy visit, said the biggest issue in the country was youth development.
The APC spokesperson therefore emphasized that there was a need for government at all levels to focus on youth development agenda, noting that ‘governance goes beyond building roads, bridges and awarding contracts.’
Abdullahi, who was of the opinion that most government projects and programmes should revolve around youth development, observed that most governments in the country lack clarity on youth development and education.
He stressed that there was supposed to be a deliberate plan to develop the education sector, develop the capabilities of young people and give them the right kind of values for them to become self-sufficient and productive to the society.
While congratulating Nigerian youths on the signing of the age reduction bill, Not Too Young To Run, into law, Abdullahi encouraged young people to strive to garner skills and experience before seeking political offices. He said this was important because leadership positions require certain skills and competence.
Abdullahi therefore, maintained that focus should be on those who have the required capacity and competence to deliver a solution-driven governance.
