Sen. Rafiu condemns politicization of FG’s Tradermoni scheme, asks Kwarans to be wary of APC’s deceit

The Senator representing Kwara South senatorial district at the Senate, Dr Rafiu Ibrahim has decried the politicization of the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme, Tradermoni.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Senator Rafiu alerted his constituents and Nigerians at large that the Federal Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC), are using the funds allocated for the programme as political largesse to aid the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The statement noted that the process for the disbursement of Tradermoni funds had commenced in Kwara South but alleged that officials in charge of the scheme were registering only members and supporters of the APC for the scheme.

According to the statement, the officials moved round markets and Artisan concentrated locations in the senatorial district with known APC sympathizers and supporters in order to identify beneficiaries who are supporters of the party.

The statement added, we are all aware that the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo may be coming to Kwara state to further embolden the skewed disbursement of this fund, stressing that the scheme was basically designed as a vote-buying tool.

It queried why funds allocated for a social intervention programme supposedly meant for all eligible Nigerians would be distributed to only the supporters of the ruling party.

The statement, however, asked Kwarans not to fall for the deceit of the APC led Federal Government and noted that it has taken the Federal government almost four years to introduce the tradermoni scheme, especially at the time that electioneering campaign have commenced officially.
