Truce Move Between Saraki and Lawan’s Senate Groups Will Aid More Positive Legislations – Mashood Mustapha
A former member of Federal House of Representatives, Abuja who is the Special Adviser to Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Intra-Parliamentary Affairs and Special Duties, Hon. Mashood Mustapha affirmed that the ongoing hands of overture that members of Senate Unity Forum and Like Minds Senators who supported Senator Ahmed Lawan and Bukola Saraki respectively for Senate Presidency are positive towards the quality of their legislative activities for Nigerians.
Mustapha, who met the news men in Ilorin today stated that political infighting is not bizarre in democratic settings but as normal as democracy itself. He proceeded by stating that a serious political party will never allow politics to be continuously played among its main men but advance a way of finding lasting solution to any rift that betides its members at every point in time. “Election has come and gone and winners have emerged, our Senators should put their past behind them and let Nigeria feel the promised change by our great party.”
He also avowed that there is no gainsaying the fact that the 8th Senate which is less than a year under the leadership of Senator Saraki has shown a clear difference and recorded monumental achievements in terms of many pro-people bills, objective oversight functions, bribe-free ministerial screening, exposition of 2016 budget discrepancies, openness of the activities of National Assembly among others. He concluded by asserting that by the time peace finally reigns among the APC members in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, Nigerians should expect more of such legislations that will have direct impact on the lives of common men.
