The group comprising volunteers in Kwara state known as Voluntary Sensitization Committee today, met with the members of Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria at their State Secretariat opposite Ilorin International Airport gate, Ilorin with the purpose of sensitizing the transporters on the developmental strides and progressive plans of the Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki as the number three citizen of Nigeria.
The volunteers were led to the meeting by their Chairman, Alhaji Ali Olola. Other members of the team who were in the meeting are: the State Woman Leader of APC, Alhaja Saarat Adebayo, Alhaja Riskat Abdullahi, Alhaji Lanre Akanbi and former Special Assistants to Governor Ahmed, Abdulfatah Sholagberu, Tajudeen Shittu and Biodun Baraje. The lead group Chairman, Alhaji Ali Olola assured the transporters that despite the present financial challenges with which Nigeria and Kwara State are faced, they will directly or indirectly benefit from the office of Senate President who is the leader of the ruling party in Kwara. Alhaji Olola then urged the transporters to disregard the frequent blackmails by Saraki’s adversaries in and outside Kwara.
Also, Alhaja Saarat Adebayo maintained urged transporters to show solidarity to their very own Senate President by rallying round him. She proceeded by recalling how Kwarans condemned their own son, late Gen. Tunde Idiagbon who was Gen. Buhari’s best hand in the 80s, but regretted their action when their government was overthrown by Gen. Babangida who out of bitterness, moved our River Basin from Upper to Lower and our Airport from International from Local. She guaranteed them that if Sen. Saraki could accomplish those monumental achievements that Kwara is proud of as Governor and as a first timer Senator in 7th Assembly respectively, he will surprise all and sundry as Senate President. She concluded with a reassurance that the Senator Saraki has plans for their unemployed youths in terms of job opportunities and influential intentions for federal roads in Kwara to make life easy for residents and most especially, transporters.
Alhaji Abdulfatah Sholagberu also disclosed that Dr. bukola Saraki is an embodiment of human capacity development and derives joy in seeing Kwara State youths succeeding. He made it known that Saraki has empowered many youths in Kwara and across Nigeria as his Special Advisers, Special Assitants and legislative aides.
In his own comment, the Chairman of Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Salman Ayooku who described the Senate President as a dependable and receptive leader, thanked him for his Philanthropic gestures for their Union since his time as Kwara State Governor till the moment. Some of the benefits as disclosed by Alhaji Ayoku include: millions of naira cash support, Motorized Borehole at the Secretariat, vehicles, yearly Hajj, Umura and Jerusalem slots and timely assistance. The Chairman then sought for Saraki’s support in the completion of the construction of their secretariat and other amenities. He then charged all the garage chairmen and members not to fall for the contemptible blackmails, misinformation and slanders that people whose minds are beclouded with political hatred for Saraki circulate.
