The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has pledged the sustenance of the legacy left behind by the Pioneer Speaker at the assembly, Rt. Hon. Shehu Usman.
Ahmad said this when he led the whole House to felicitate with the former speaker on his 75th birthday in his private residence, Ilorin last weekend.
The Speaker described Usman as a very productive individual who had served the state meritoriously and contributed effectively in various capacities to the advancement of the state.
He said the House deemed it fit to convene a special session in his residence as a mark of honour to him and to appreciate his effective contributions to the sustainability of the state Assembly.
Ahmad however stated that the lawmakers would not hesitate to tap in the wisdom of the pioneer speaker whenever the needs arise in the discharge of their duties.
Responding, Rt. Hon. Shehu Usman appreciated the lawmakers for their support and show of solidarity, stressing that he would forever cherish the moment in his lifetime.
Usman who lauded the 8th Assembly under the leadership of Dr. Ali Ahmad thanked the legislators for deeming it to visit him and share in his moment of joy despite the fact that he had left office very long time ago.
The former speaker pledged to always be available for the lawmakers whenever his services are required with a view to further improving their legislative duties.
He however advised the legislators to continue to be good representatives of their various constituencies and charge the Assembly not to derail in championing the course of the masses.
