Ilorin Emirate Youths Use N1m Empowerment to Mark Lailatul-Kadri

The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) empowered over forty women across the  five local government areas in the Ilorin Emirate with One Million Naira.

This empowerment which took place on Saturday during the Association’s Ramadan and Lailatul Qadir Lecture at the 4th Floor 170 Atidade Complex, opposite Total Filling Station, Taiwo Road Ilorin.

The President of the association, Alhaji Abdullahi Babatunde Salaudeen made it clear that the money was meant to empower the beneficiaries in order to boost their various businesses.

While stressing the importance to make the maximum use of the amount given,  Alhaji Salaudeen said that the Association is worried about the plight of women in Kwara. Adding that the challenges of the economy has necessitated the empowerment.

“Women are the bedrock of every society. Making a woman financial independent will go a long way in supporting the family and community as a whole”, he said.

Hajia Habibat Saidu, the Association’s Board of Truestee Secretary, who was represented by Mallam Abubakar Abdulkadir, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of this opportunity to expand their businesses.

Hajia Habitat therefore made it clear to the beneficiaries that the money received was a solidarity donation by philanthropists, who preferred not to be mentioned. He therefore called on other philanthropists to partner with IEYDA to elevate poverty in the society.

In his lecture, Sheik Murtadha Ottan, advised all the youths to love one another and promote unity. Making reference to the hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), ” None of you is really a believer until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself “.

Sheik Ottan encouraged all Muslims to be their brothers keeper and do every thing possible to foster development in their various communities.

In the spirit of Ramadan, Alhaji Usman Abidogun while leading the Lailatul-Kadri prayers, commended the effort of the association, saying it would go a long way in reducing the level of poverty in Kwara.

Mallam Abidogun in a special prayer, prayed to God to increase His blessings on the donor. He also prayed for God’s guidance for the association in carrying out their various activities.

He also advised the youths to be generous to their neighbours and also prayed for the association to grow more in their life touching achievements.

Earlier, the PRO of the association, Alhaji Mohammad Uthman Jagunmo, mentioned that more community development projects will be executed which will cut across all local government areas in the Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State.

Jagunmo also called on other well meaning Nigerians who wish to part of this highly rewarding deed to partner with IEYDA to as there plans to get more women empowered in the annual mega empowerment schedule for January 2017.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaja Memunat, promised to invest the money judiciously into their businesses and also thanked the IEYDA for their continous support for women.

Some of the beneficiaries include; Alhaja Munirat Isale Oja, Alhaja Aminat Elemere, Moro LG, Alhaja Soliu Memunat, Ilorin-West LG,  Usman Ile Aliagan\Ajara community Ilorin-West LG,  Rasheedat Alfa Lajiki, Lajiki Community, Ilorin-East LG,  Abdurasaq Olowoniyo, Ballah Community Asa LG, to mention but a few.
