Kwara Reaffirms Ownership of Harmony Holdings Limited
The Kwara State government has dismissed speculations that Harmony Holdings Limited and its component companies are owned by private individuals.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Mahmud Ajeigbe, the State government described the speculations as misleading and an attempt by the opposition to create disaffection between the government and people of the State.
Alhaji Ajeigbe stressed that Harmony Holdings Ltd and the shareholder companies, which include Ilorin Cargo Terminal Company Ltd, Patigi Regatta Motel Ltd, Kwara State Cashew Nut Processing Company Ltd and Kwara State Tourism Kitchen Company Ltd are all fully owned by the State government.
He explained that the incorporation of Harmony Holdings was only supervised by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Investments and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Ogunsola, as part of their cabinet responsibility.
He stressed that the two individuals signed on behalf of the State government because the law dictates that individuals have to sign a company registration on behalf of a corporate organization.
The Commissioner, therefore, asked members of the public to disregard the attempt by opposition elements to mislead the public and incite them against the government using falsehood, as those companies are 100 per cent owned by the Kwara State government.
Alhaji Ajeigbe challenged the opposition to provide up-to-date documents from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to back up their claims that these companies are owned by private individuals.
