No Plan to Implement New Salary Structure : KWSG

Kwara state

The Kwara State Government has denied media reports that it intends to implement a new salary structure for local government workers in the state.

The State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftancy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Haruna Tambiri Mohammed, who issued the denial in an interview with journalists in Ilorin, said he was misquoted by the reporters who filed the story.
The Commissioner clarified that he only told the media that only those verified by the Committee On Personnel Database Development will be paid once its report is submitted and approved by the government.
He wondered why the state government will single out LG for a new salary structure and leave out State government workers and pensioners.
According to him, the state government’s determination is to ensure that only those legally entitled to salaries and pensions at the state and local government levels are paid.
The Commissioner also denied claims by local government workers that a consultant has been contracted to handle salary payment. Rather, he emphasized that consultants were only engaged to partner the government on the staff verification exercise and will disengage once their report is submitted and approved by the state government.
