Gov Ahmed to Flag-Off Community Development Projects Next Week
Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed will on Wednesday, 28 December perform the official launch and presentation of cheques to 47 beneficiary communities under the State’s World Bank assisted Community and Social Development Project (CSDP).
The State Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Alhaji Wasiu Odewale disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. He said that the project is part of effort to address the infrastructural needs of people at the grassroots.
Odewale explained that CSDP was put in place to empower communities in the State to identify and execute priority developmental project through a co-financing contribution of 90 per cent from the government and 10 per cent from each of the beneficiary communities.
He further noted that 58 communities across the State have submitted letters of expression of interest in the programme, but only 47 of them have shown evidence of the provision of the required 10 per cent contribution.
According to him, all the 47 communities will be presented cheques next Wednesday at the formal launching of the programme, which will hold at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin.
The Commissioner disclosed that the funded projects will cut across health, education, roads, water, environment and poverty alleviation.
