The progressive youth wing of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), otherwise known as the All Progressives Youth Forum, commended the government of Kwara state under the able leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed over many youth oriented programmes achieved in the last 6 years through the office of the ever creative Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths Development, Alhaji Sakariyau Babatunde.
While serializing the monumental youth oriented achievements of governor Ahmed which include the absorption of over 1500 corp members into public sector, sponsorship of 30 graduates for NAPTIN practical training programme, development of unemployed registration portal, coordination of KWABES, QUICKWIN and WORLD BANK YESSO programme in the state, training of 500 youths on ICT, training of 750 youths on entrepreneurship, organization of workshop on harnessing availability for start-ups growth, the new KWAYEP scheme, sealing of partnership with Google few days ago on Training of youths on Digital Marketing Skills among others, the group described him as a youth friendly governor who continued the path of his predecessor, the Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki while serving as the Governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011.
As a forum with keen interest in the human capacity development of the state, with precise interest in the youth development, it has also thrown its weight behind the call for the establishment of the unemployment database by the local government areas. Describing the call, which was made by the State House of Assembly, as clarion; the state chapter of the forum expressed the confidence that such a database will aid the quest for solution to youth unemployment challenge.
The forum recognises the zeal with which the parliamentarians have pursued issues of concern to young people in the State and pledge to work with the Assembly members to disseminate information about youth-focused bills and related interventions.
