Kwara Female Civil Servants Assured of Discretion in Health Screening

Female civil servants in Kwara State have been assured of discretion in the ongoing free health check and cancer screening exercise in the State.
This assurance was given by Mrs Bola Oladapo, an official of the Live Empowered Anchors Hope (LEAH) Charity Foundation while featuring on a radio programme on Thursday in Ilorin, the State capital. The free health check is provided by the Kwara State government in partnership with LEAH Foundation.
While allying concerns by some female civil servants on the involvement of male doctors in the screening, Oladapo disclosed that such screening by male doctors will have a female nurse in attendance. She added that the screening will be conducted in line with standard medical practice as applied when a male doctor takes delivery of a baby.
She therefore urged the civil servants not to be discouraged as the exercise will avail the beneficiaries the opportunity to know their health status so as to seek early help where necessary.
Oladapo said the free health check and cancer screening is targeted at 4000 female State civil servants, including those from Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
She further added that the screening will be extended to other women and men in subsequent phases of the project.
The exercise began on Monday, 25thSeptember and will run for 6 weeks.
