A group, known as Kwara South All Progressive Elders Council has passed a vote of confidence in Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, who is representing the Senatorial District at the Upper Chamber of the 8th National Assembly.
The Council conveyed its support for the Senator through a statement released on Wednesday, 3 January, 2018, a copy of which was made available to newsmen.
Members of the Council said they are impressed with the performance of the lawmaker and commended him for the various developmental projects he had executed within the senatorial district since his election into the Senate.
The elders unanimously applauded Senator Rafiu for performing his duties in the Senate and constituency, especially in provision of basic social amenities to his constituency.
Some of the projects listed to have been executed at the district by the senator include the construction and asphalt overlay of Offa-Ojoku road, provision of electricity transformers to many communities, provision of motorized bore holes and water tanks in many communities, scholarships to students in secondary and tertiary institutions, general empowerment of his constituents.
Additionally, the council said through his initiative, Rafiu Ibrahim Bilal (RIB) Foundation, more than 3000 persons have been trained in different capacity building and skills acquisitions programme.
The elders also described Senator Rafiu as a listening leader, who has endeared himself to his people through frequent interactions with them and party members, professional groups, youths, women associations and the traditional institutions within his senatorial district.
The Council therefore urged members of the district to disregard any publication initiating the recall of the Senator, noting that his representation has promoted peaceful co-existence as well as development in the district.
