The Kwara state People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Kwara state governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of instigating crises among the monarchs of the state.
In a statement by the Director Media, Kwara State PDP Campaign Council, Lawal Akanbi Sharafadeen described the act as “another despicable Machiavellian move”.
Lawal said in the statement said, “The attention of the Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Campaign Council has been drawn to another despicable Machiavellian move of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to cause disaffection among the various ethnic groups in the state.”
“We do not lock horns with anyone unless where there are issues raised and there are none so far from all the releases of various unknown groups linked to the government.” he said.
“Similar to what it did towards the 2019 general elections, the APC has started its usual provocative propaganda of dragging our revered traditional institution into disrepute by trying to instigate crises among the royal fathers.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the recent successful campaign tour of PDP to Kwara North is strictly to solicit the support of the zone for the PDP candidates in all elections and had nothing to do with the leadership of our traditional institutions as that has already been settled long ago.
“It is quite understandable that the Kwara North success of the PDP campaign is unsettling for the unpopular Governor and knowing fully well that a resounding success awaits the PDP campaign at the central, hence the Governor has resulted into playing dirty through countless unknown associations but the PDP will not come down so low but rather concentrate on issues.
“The party, therefore advises Governor AbdulRahman, who in his cold war with the Emir of Ilorin, had refused to enter the central mosque and pray with the Emir until his unpopular second-term bid, to caution his hirelings and avoid involving the revered royal father in politics.
“The PDP reiterates its commitment to respecting and upholding the sanctity of our traditional institutions and all attempts to incite and instigate our revered institutions for cheap sympathy by the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq APC – led administration stands condemned.
“The 2023 election is a defining one and Kwarans are interested in holding to account, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the gross mismanagement of the state resources without anything to show for it than any attempt to stoke up unnecessary rivalry between our royal fathers thereby overheating the existing heated polity.
We therefore caution Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq against crossing lines that are held sacred by our people. Lawal added.
