An inferno has been reported at the popular Lagos Balogun market in early hours of Tuesday.
According to an eye witness, the fire was reported to have started from a section of a five-storey building in the market.
The building can be located as No. 32 Balogun plaza, which houses many shops whose owners engage in sales of several outfits.
Another eye witness revealed that the fire started around 8am at the section of female shoes sellers of the plaza.
Investigation is ongoing by authorities to detect the cause of the inferno.
Kwaralefro learnt that the state emergency operators have swung into action. Lagos State Fire and Rescue service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Nigeria Police Force have deployed personnels to scene.

However, the director of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Magret Adeseye has urged residents and commuters to remain calm.
She gave an assurance that the whole situation is under control.
“The lagos state Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to a fire outbreak at the famous Balogun market which involved the top most floor of a five-storey building.” Magret said.
“The fire is however under control as mitigations are on to limit the spread.” she added.
