One of the leaders of the Kenyan coalition parties, Raila Odinga, has now claimed that an attempt was made to kill him during the anti-government demonstrations on Thursday in Nairobi.
Raila criticized the police for employing excessive force during nonviolent protests in a message posted on his official social media channels.
“There’s no justification for the excessive force used against peaceful unarmed citizens exercising their democratic rights today. The unprovoked attack left my car hit with 7 live bullets, each aimed at me,” he said.
“We won’t be deterred”.
“Our quest won’t stop and we’ll hold the mother of all demonstrations next Monday, regardless of what our detractors say. We won’t give up.”
However kenyanmusic.co.ke has just reported that one of the assassins has been identified to be Silas Kemboi.
He was specifically seen breaking glasses of Raila’s media vehicle and throwing several teargas canisters inside leaving the occupants severely injured.
Silas Kemboi is a police officer stationed at Kamukunji police station. He previously served in Ruai police station.
