The greatest king recorded in the Bible was David. He was described by God as a man after His own heart and well loved by the people of Israel.
However, King David as great as he was, once lost his throne momentarily to his son, Absalom.
Just like Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Absalom cunningly devised his takeover by endearing himself to the people through deception.
“When people brought a case to the king for judgment, Absalom would ask where in Israel they were from, and they would tell him their tribe. Then Absalom would say, “You’ve really got a strong case here! It’s too bad the king doesn’t have anyone to hear it.
I wish I were the judge. Then everyone could bring their cases to me for judgment, and I would give them justice!” When people tried to bow before him, Absalom wouldn’t let them.
Instead, he took them by the hand and kissed them. Absalom did this with everyone who came to the king for judgment, and so he stole the hearts of all the people of Israel.”, the bible records.
Absalom’s deception of promising “Ijoba Mekunu” eventually worked on the people and King David had to flee from the throne but not for too long.
The same Absalom who rose to the throne by pretending as if he was going to do things differently from King David recruited David’s men and most importantly one of his most trusted counselors, Ahithophel as an adviser.
“Even my own close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me [betraying me].”; King David lamented. But being a just man who was only a victim of deception and treachery, David prayed “O LORD, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”
The first advise Ahithophel gave to Absalom was to go on the palace roof and sleep with David’s wives/concubines in the full glare of Israelites which he did.
This is exactly what Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been doing by prostituting himself around Kwara, embracing and inviting members of his much vilified Saraki dynasty into the government house again and touting it publicly when the mandate he rode on to office was “Otoge”.
How do you plan to rebuild Kwara with the same set of people you claim destroyed it?
Evil men have men who constantly push them into doing more evil than they could ever imagine. As Hitler had his circle of devilish men in Goebbels, Göring, Himmler and Hess, so did Absalom have his in Ahithophel and some men of Israel which eventually led to the end of all of them.
For Absalom, he eventually got caught up in the web of his evil by chasing after David to kill him in a dangerous terrain where he got trapped. Like Abdulrahman, vindictive people never stop chasing until the hatred that has blinded their eyes leads them into a ditch.
Ahithophel on the other hand committed suicide when his advice to Absalom on the perfect strategy to kill David was refused for the advise of another counselor of lower rank, wisdom and prestige.
A man who the bible described as one whose advise was tantamount to enquiring from the Oracle of God couldn’t bear the humiliation of seeing his counsel rejected by all the people in favour of an inferior plan by a man of lesser wisdom.
Such is the end of men who utilize their talents for an evil course and embrace the enemy of their benefactors.
Just like Judas, they do not just lose their throne in discipleship, but also take their own lives in the process.
Both Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the betrayers he has surrounded himself with will experience the end to their evil reign on Saturday when Kwarans reject them for Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman.
