Desmond, a University of Benin final-year student, was shot and killed on Monday by unidentified assailants in his room at the Hall 3 Hostel in what seemed to be a cult-related incident.

Desmond Rukevwe, a well-known Kegite Chief who resided in the university’s Aminu Kano Hall 3 dorm, was referred to by his peers and other students as “Mayor.”

Desmond was discovered with a head wound from a gunshot wound in his room where the incident took place. The severity of the injuries caused him to pass away immediately, shocking and upsetting the UniBen community.

Students at UNIBEN claim that they are still in shock over the shooting and death of such a kind student.
