A Supreme Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s highest court, affirmed its judgment in March 2023 to overturn the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which was presided over by Justice Tetse Kume.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, was ordered by the Tribunal in January of this year to withdraw the Certificate of Return it had previously given to Governor Ademola Adeleke and
instead issue a new one to Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, the APC candidate for governor in the state’s July 16 governorship election.
For a definitive ruling on issues relating to the July 16 gubernatorial election in 2022, all eyes had been on the supreme court of the country.
