Lecturer who slapped a student captured on video ordering students to crawl out of his class
A shocking incident of physical assault on a female student by an Imo State University (IMSU) lecturer, Dr. Desmond Izunwanne, has recently come to light. The incident, which was captured on video, shows the lecturer slapping the student after she told him that she wore a muffler to his class because she was coming from the hospital. This has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of students under the care of such individuals.
In a subsequent video that has surfaced, the same lecturer can be seen ordering students to crawl out of his class for coming late. This appalling behavior has drawn widespread condemnation from the academic community and the public at large, who have called for swift action against such abuse of power by those entrusted with the responsibility of educating and guiding the next generation of leaders.
The incident has sparked a larger conversation about the pervasive problem of violence and harassment in educational institutions, particularly against female students. This incident serves as a painful reminder of the challenges that students face, both in and out of the classroom, and highlights the need for greater awareness, education, and institutional support to address these issues and ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment for all.
The actions of Dr. Izunwanne and others like him cannot be tolerated, and it is incumbent upon academic institutions to take strong and decisive action to address and prevent such behavior. Students must be able to trust and rely on their educators to provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages growth and learning, and the academic community must come together to demand accountability and change for the betterment of all.
