Court remands man, 32, for r@ping 3-year-old girl in Ondo

A 32-year-old man named Daniel Udoh has been ordered to be detained at Olokuta Correctional Center on charges of sexually abusing and exploiting a 3-year-old girl by a family court in Oke-Eda, Akure, Ondo State.

Udoh, who dwells at No. 5, Alayere Community, in the Akure neighborhood on Oda Road, was accused of one count of sexual abuse.

Martins Olowofeso, the prosecuting police officer, informed the court that the defendant committed the crimes at 5 p.m. on June 12, 2023.

He said that Udoh molested and sexually exploited the minor (name withheld) who was 3 years old at his apartment.

Olowofeso stated that the defendant illegally exploited the victim after luring her to his room.

“The victim’s mother, who heard her daughter crying, rushed to the scene and met the defendant molesting the little girl,” the prosecutor claimed.

The prosecution claims that the offense violates Section 32(a) of the 2006 Child’s Rights Law of Ondo State.

Olowofeso requested that the defendant be held in custody while the court awaits the legal opinion of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, or DPP.

Udoh, however, entered a not guilty plea after hearing the accusations.

The defendant was kept in custody at Olokuta Correctional Facility while the case was pending before the Magistrate, Folashade Aduroja.
