Full Video: Evidence contradicts Boebert’s claim she missed debt ceiling vote intentionally

According to new video, Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert didn’t vote on raising the debt ceiling on purpose to “silently protest.”

A CNN reporter outside the Capitol on Wednesday night captured the Republican congresswoman from Colorado sprinting up the steps in an effort to make the vote.

The vote to pass the bill was 314 to 117. Boebert was one of the four people who voted against the motion. After passing the Senate, it was swiftly signed by Biden.

CBS News Colorado reached out to Boebert’s office seeking comment but did not immediately receive a response.

Boebert has been vocal about her opposition to the debt ceiling bill, which President Joe Biden signed into law Saturday and suspends the nation’s debt limit through January 1, 2025, to avert a default, the first time that would have happened in the U.S. Some economists warned it would have triggered a global economic catastrophe.

Later, Boebert didn’t participate in the voting on Wednesday night. Boebert was the lone Colorado congressional representative who failed to arrive in time to participate in the debate over the debt ceiling bill.

A representative tweeted out a video saying she didn’t vote on the debt ceiling bill on purpose, saying the public should call her actions, or inaction, a “silent protest.”

“No excuses, I was ticked off,” Boebert said. “They wouldn’t let me do my job, so I didn’t take the vote.”
