Ogene Victor, a member of the Labour Party in the House of Representatives, cast his vote on Tuesday in favor of Tajudeen Abbas, the APC’s nominee for Speaker.
Hon Victor said, “My heart is with Idris Wase but my vote goes to Tajudeen Abbas.”
The House adopted an open ballot procedure in which members could voice their preference for a candidate to the election officer and deputy clerk of the national parliament, Barr. Kamura Ogunlana.

Hon Tajudeen Abass has been declared as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He won with a landslide victory against his top rival Hon Wase.
Hon Tajudeen Abass is the anointed candidate of the All progressive Party.
Hon. Tajudeen Abass stands out as a legislator thanks to his impressive legislative track record. He has the distinction of being the politician that sponsored the most measures in the outgoing 9th legislature, an astounding 74 in just four years.
