Mother, 31, is charged with murder after she ‘left her 16-month-old daughter home alone for TEN days and found her dead when she returned’

A lady from Ohio is accused of killing her 16-month-old daughter after discovering the infant had passed away after leaving the toddler unattended at home for ten days while she went on vacation.

Kristel Candelario, 31, was arrested and charged in the death of her baby daughter, Jailyn on June 18, while she reportedly traveled to Detroit and Puerto Rico, as per the affidavit, NBC News reported.

On June 16, Kristel went back to her house in Cleveland, which is at West 97th Street, and discovered that her daughter had remained unconscious.

Speaking through an interpreter, Candelario told investigators that she had left her infant “at home, all alone and unattended,” and that when she returned, she discovered that her daughter had been “extremely dehydrated.”According to an affidavit, authorities said that her daughter’s playpen contained “soiled blankets and a bottom liner, saturated with urine and feces.”

According to officials, Candelario never made plans for her infant daughter before she left, as was revealed on Thursday.

According to a police statement, the youngster had been left alone for about 10 days before dying, despite the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office’s claim that “no signs of trauma” were present.

When they learned of the situation, neighbors became upset. According to People, many people who had previously taken care of the toddler said they wished Candelario had contacted them for assistance.A 13-year-old who was acquainted with the youngster described her as “amazing and really adorable.”

They claimed that Jailyn “really didn’t deserve” what happened to her. I miss her so much.

At the Cleveland, Ohio, primary school Citizen Academy Glenville, Candelario had previously served as a building substitute.

She had been in that role since November 2022, but was fired after her arrest. The school issued a statement announcing her termination, WEWS-TV reported.

She’s being held in custody at the Cuyahoga County jail right now on a $1 million bond. It is yet unknown whether she has hired a lawyer or if she has already entered a plea.

June 28 at 8:30 am is when she will have her next hearing.
