Missing millionaire crypto influencer found dismembered in suitcase
A chilling murder investigation has been launched in Argentina after the dismembered remains of millionaire Fernando Pérez Algaba, aged 41, were discovered by a group of children over the weekend. The gruesome case came to light when the kids stumbled upon a red suitcase filled with body parts while playing near a stream in Ingeniero Budge, Buenos Aires on Sunday.
Disturbed by the disturbing discovery, the children’s parents immediately notified the Buenos Aires police, who then inspected the package. The suitcase was found to contain the victim’s legs and forearm, while another whole arm was discovered in the nearby stream. Authorities continued their search and, on Wednesday, uncovered the missing head and torso, adding to the macabre nature of the crime.
The clean amputation of the body parts suggests that the dismemberment was carried out by someone with professional expertise, leaving investigators stunned and searching for answers.
A subsequent autopsy revealed that the victim had been shot three times before being gruesomely chopped up and stuffed in the suitcase. Police were able to identify the body parts through fingerprints and distinctive tattoos, confirming that they belonged to Algaba, a successful entrepreneur who had been declared missing since the previous Tuesday.
The 41-year-old businessman had accumulated substantial wealth by renting luxury vehicles and engaging in cryptocurrency trading, which he actively promoted to his sizable following of 900,000 on Instagram. While residing in Barcelona, Spain, Algaba had reportedly been staying in Argentina for a week before his tragic death.
According to witnesses, Algaba had rented an apartment in Argentina and was scheduled to return the keys on July 19, but he failed to show up or respond to any communication attempts. His mysterious disappearance remained a mystery until the grim discovery made by the children.
In connection with Algaba’s death, the police have apprehended one suspect, although the motive behind the alleged murder remains unclear. Authorities are exploring the possibility that the influencer was killed over his substantial debts, which had reportedly become a significant burden.
The tragic end to Algaba’s life is particularly poignant given his humble beginnings. He started working at the age of 14, beginning with selling sandwiches with just a bicycle and a box. Over the years, he showed remarkable entrepreneurial spirit, eventually owning a large warehouse filled with high-end cars, motorcycles, and jet skis by the age of 24.
Algaba’s success continued as he founded a luxury car and jetski rental firm in Miami before relocating to Barcelona earlier this year. In his final years, he was heavily involved in trading cryptocurrency from an office with over 25 employees in Buenos Aires.
However, behind his apparent success, there were signs of financial strain. Algaba had accumulated “irrecoverable” debts with the Argentine tax agency, and his company “Motors Lettuce SRL” encountered financial troubles, including bouncing checks, less than a year after its incorporation in January 2018.
As the investigation unfolds, friends, family, and the public are left grappling with the shocking and tragic demise of this once-promising entrepreneur, known fondly among his friends as “Lechuga” (lettuce). The case serves as a sobering reminder of the complexities and dangers that sometimes lie beneath the surface of seemingly successful and glamorous lives.
