In a video that was released on July 26th, Zayna Iman, 38, made the allegations against Greater Manchester Police (GMP), claiming that CCTV footage showed a variety of alleged attacks. She was dragged face down onto a mattress as seen on CCTV footage captured inside her cell.
Zayna told Sky News: ‘Instead of providing an unconscious female with medical attention they thought, ‘I know let’s leave her there.‘It’s just something that the police do for their own perverse kicks.’
Police broke into her home in the early hours of February 5, 2021, and arrested her after she knocked the glasses off a female officer’s face.
Officers explained that they were responding to a welfare report regarding a woman who was coke-high.
Zayna, who has given up her right to remain anonymous, was transported to and imprisoned at a police station for the next 40 hours.Three hours of missing video from her arrest, according to Sky News, have not yet been provided by the police.
It is stated that Zayna’s medical records confirm her claims.
Martin Harding, a former GMP chief superintendent who has watched the video and noted the discrepancies with the custody log, has also heard about her concerns and believes she has a valid point.
In my opinion, she was assaulted, Mr. Harding added. I think some cop assaulted her, and I think the organization is hiding it. GMP said there is currently no evidence to suggest any staff have engaged in misconduct or broken the law, albeit it has not stated why the footage is missing.
