With the current worsening state of the economy in Nigeria, some netizens have haughtily asked about the whereabouts of the member representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Senator Saliu Mustapha, after which the federal lawmaker on Wednesday appointed 70 Legislative Aides and Technical Advisers.
This reporter monitored the funny memes being circulated on several microblog platforms by netizens haughtily lamenting the disappearance of the lawmaker amid the hardship faced by the constituents against the backdrop of fuel subsidy removal.
One of the netizens identified as Zakariyau Issa posted, “Nawa oh, Saliu Mustapha win election finish. We don’t see ham again😂🫵🏾. Alanu mekunnu ti salo😂 ebi tife yo oju mekunnu.”
According to the lawmaker aides, the Legislative Aides and Technical Advisers appointed will play instrumental roles in aiding the lawmaker to deliver on his electioneering commitments to the people.
Senator Mustapha who is also the Turaki of Ilorin recently emerged as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development.
His aide, Prince Tunji Buhari who represented the lawmaker at the presentation of the appointment letters to the appointees, extended his gratitude to those whom he said contributed to his successful election campaign and assured the public of more empowerment programmes.
According to him, the diverse groups of appointees came from various spheres, encompassing politics, community service, academia, and the private sector.
He stressed that many of these individuals have previously collaborated with Senator Mustapha, by contributing their skills and expertise in different capacities.
Political analysts have feared that the lawmaker’s disappearance from the state likewise his colleagues across the 109 senatorial districts in Nigeria is another turn of events which may not be unconnected to the outcry of Nigerians against the largesse enjoyed by the lawmakers out of N77B approved by the National Assembly to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.
