Siyabonga Mhlongo is a South African man who was convicted of the murder of Ben Jabula Gumbi, a former South African rugby union player. On 12 January 2023 Gumbi died at his home in Durban. He had been stabbed multiple times.
The two attackers ambushed Platō Coffee on Ben Gumi Kock Street in Jabulani around 8:00am.
One of the two men accused of robbing the victim is Mhlongo, according to the allegations.
Still on the loose is the other suspect.
The community’s assistance in the investigation has received praise from the SAPS. Additionally, they have pleaded with anyone who may have information to come forward.

In view of Gumbi’s considerable popularity and reputation, the case has been extensively covered by media in South Africa. The murder also raised questions about the security of retired rugby players.
The incident was caught on CCTV. This shows that Gumbi was shot several times before collapsing.
Police spokesperson Brig Sabata Mokgwabone confirmed the shooting and added that the matter is being investigated by the police.
