KWSG FLAGS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS AND SPORT KITS FOR PUPILS IN THE STATE

The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq today flagged off the distribution of instructional materials and sport kits procured by UBEC/KWSUBEB for pupils in the sixteen LGAs in the state.

Governor AbdulRazaq observed that the distribution of both instructional materials and sports kits procured from UBEC/KWSUBEB interventions of 2018 and 2019 matching grants is of great significance to the upliftment of basic education in the state. He added that the aim is to reduce the burden on pupils, parents, and guardians, most especially in this hard time in the country.

Governor AbdulRazaq was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi at the event held at community Muslim Primary School, Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government area of the state.

The Governor noted that ‘this programme is also aimed at repositioning basic education in the area of sporting activities which will go a long way in encouraging and inspiring pupils in participating in physical and health education that will not only provide them with good and sound health but also enable them to discover their talents to engage in sport competitions within and outside the State and at International level’.

Similarly, he added that this administration is working assiduously at ensuring effective teaching and learning of physical education and other subjects in all schools through prompt payment of salary, implementation of promotions, payment of palliative and provision of instructional materials which in turn breeds a conducive teaching and learning atmosphere in schools in the state.

Governor AbdulRazaq noted that the project is in phases. He acknowledged and expressed gratitude to all school leaders, administrators, teachers, and non-teaching staff who work round the clock to ensure the success of all the laudable programmes of this administration.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Rebecca Bake Olanrewaju expressed gratitude to the Governor for salvaging and uplifting the education sector. She implored school’s management not to hoard the materials meant for the pupils.

In his address, chairman Kwara state SUBEB, Professor Shehu Raheem Adaramaja stated that the multi-million Naira textbooks supplied by UBEC and the procurement of sports kit under the 1% UBEC/KWSUBEB sports intervention fund is to effectively address the instructional materials gap in public primary and junior secondary schools.
