Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq

The Governor of Kwara State, who also doubles as the Chairman of Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF), Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been listed as a frontliner among Governors that govern from outside their state.

This was disclosed in a report by Punch dated 8th November, 2023 titled “Meet five governors who allegedly govern from outside their states”.

According to Punch “There have been growing indications that some governors in the country are governing their people from outside of their states.

Some of them allegedly govern their states from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and other parts of the world.”

The platform cited in their report that “Residents of these states, and several residents and stakeholders are complaining about the attitude of these governors, noting that their absence from the states negates the principle of good governance.”

It was also obtained via Punch that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq do not hand over to his deputy but prefer to make most of the decisions of the state from wherever he is, flouting the constitutional provision that stipulates that a governor has a statutory duty to sit and ensure lives and property are secured and protected.

The platform also revealed that the Governor is not expected to stay outside his state for more than two weeks because he is the Chief Security Officer of his state.

Punch as well cited the allegation of the leading opposition party in the state, PDP whose chairman faulted the incessant absence of the Governor away from Kwara State.
