Group Charges Ajakaye to be truthful to Kwarans for once

Rafiu Ajakaye

The People’s Voice Advocacy Network has charged the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Kwara State Government, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye to be truthful to Kwarans for once during his time in office.

This call was made by Engineer Abdulraheem Olaitan following Ajakaye’s rebuttal of a publication by Punch Newspaper alleging the Governor of governing from outside. The group stated that the CPS is aware that the Governor’s visit to the state is mere photo ops; and jets out faster than he comes in.

Reacting further to Ajakaye’s statement, he added that there are discussion at Newspaper joints in the state that the CPS and the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly have taken the role of acting Governor away from the Deputy Governor who is recognised by the constitution.

Olaitan hinted that the discussion can’t be far from the truth judging by the two personalities mostly representing the state Governor in most functions in the State.

“It is unfortunate that Rafiu Ajakaye knows the truth, but chooses to continuously manipulate the public and good citizens of Kwara on the absence of the Governor. The Governor, as stated by Punch hardly stays in Ilorin, and governs from Abuja as if he is the Vice-president of the country.

At home, things are not going well, especially during this national distress where Governors are expected to be striving to put their people in order and improve local economy, security, and development of the state.

It is pertinent to note that Governor Abdulrahman appears to be unremorseful on his failure to commission a single project since 2019, and 2024 is just weeks away. This is sad and unacceptable”‘, said Engr. Olaitan while lamenting the situation in Kwara.

He charged the State Government, especially the CPS to be truthful to Kwarans rather than covering the Governor who is leading from Abuja. He said all hands need to be on deck to reposition the state and make the state conducive again for the citizens.
