Sen. Ben Cardin’s junior aide has left the Senate, the Maryland Democrat’s office announced on Saturday. The move came after press reports that the staff member was connected to a tape recorded in a Capitol Hill hearing room.

The Daily Caller released the graphic video on Friday. It features two men having it together in what looks to be Hart 216, the courtroom. Social media users readily identified Aidan Maese-Czeropski, a legislative assistant for Maryland Senator Ben Cardin, as one of the males in the video.

Maese-Czeropski wrote on LinkedIn on Friday night, stating that although he had previously displayed “poor judgement,” he “would never disrespect my workplace.”

“This has been a difficult time for me, as I have been attacked for who I love to pursue a political agenda,” he wrote. “While some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgement, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace. Any attempts to characterize my actions otherwise are fabricated and I will be exploring what legal options are available to me in these matters.”
