PDP Mourns Passing of Former Kwara North Senatorial Chairman, Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa

Ilorin, Nigeria – June 21, 2025 — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State is in mourning following the death of one of its most respected elder statesmen and former Kwara North Senatorial Chairman, Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa.

In an official statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the party expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the iconic political figure, describing it as a monumental loss to the party and to the people of Kwara North.

“His death is a sobering moment for the PDP family across the state,” the statement read, as the party extended heartfelt condolences to the Oniwa family and the people of Moro Local Government Area, where Alhaji Oniwa hailed from.

Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa was celebrated for his unwavering commitment to justice and equity, standing as a courageous leader whose influence and dedication greatly shaped the political landscape of Kwara North.

“He was a towering and principled leader who stood by his convictions, even when it meant standing alone. His voice was consistently raised in defense of fairness, and his contributions strengthened the PDP’s presence and unity across the region,” Adewara added.

The party acknowledged the deep void left by his passing, but also noted that Alhaji Oniwa’s legacy of integrity and service would continue to inspire generations to come.

The PDP offered prayers for the repose of his soul and called on Almighty Allah to grant his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this loss.

“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljanah Firdaus,” the statement concluded.
