Kwara PDP Slams Gov Abdulrahman Over Insecurity, Says State is “Bleeding”

August 21, 2025

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has criticized Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for what it described as his failure to address the worsening insecurity in the state, accusing him of focusing on praising President Bola Tinubu for arrests in other states while Kwara communities continue to suffer.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the party condemned the Governor’s recent comments through his Chief Press Secretary, saying it was insensitive to hail security efforts elsewhere when Kwarans are daily victims of banditry, kidnappings, and violent attacks.

According to the PDP, the Governor has reduced governance to what it called a “tenant-agent transaction,” relying on media aides to speak for him instead of directly addressing citizens who live in fear and insecurity.

“It is most unfortunate that Governor Abdulrazaq hails arrests in other states while Kwara communities bleed. Our people in Babanla, Oke-Ode, Patigi, Edu, Kaiama, Baruten, and other parts of the state are abandoned to bandits and kidnappers. Families have been displaced, farmlands deserted, and entire communities left at the mercy of marauders,” the statement read.

The party accused the Governor of being detached from the plight of Kwarans, noting that unlike leaders in other troubled states who engage with citizens and show empathy to victims, Abdulrazaq relies on what it described as “constant media propaganda” through his spokesperson.

“If Governors of Borno, Zamfara, Kaduna, Yobe, or Niger had been as complacent as Governor Abdulrazaq, Nigeria would not have recorded any milestone in the fight against insurgency,” the PDP said.

The party urged the Governor to step up, abandon what it called “cosmetic press statements,” and take decisive measures to restore peace and security across the state.

“This is not the time for flowery press releases but for direct engagement with the people and concrete actions to secure our communities,” the statement concluded.
