The Super Falcons of Nigeria has lost to the hosts of the Women’s Revelation Cup, Mexico, 1-0, on Wednesday night in the León Stadium thanks to a goal from Kiana Palacios in the 85th minute.
The Falcons struggled on the night as they continued their quest for their first victory since defeating Cameroon in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals in Morocco last year.
Asisat Oshoala, a dynamic Barcelona striker, was absent from the team because he was unable to arrive at the club’s residence in time for the game.
Standing in for the captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, made an early clearing as the Mexicans threatened to score because the Super Falcons were unwilling to come back from behind.
Via Toni Payne, Nigeria soon had their own opportunity, but it was lost.

Both parties had a rather positive beginning.
Although this was a friendly match, the loss was not the main problem; rather, the Super Falcons’ performance, which reached a new low, was of great concern.
The Super Falcons have now dropped their previous six contests, and their performance against Mexico was so dismal that a supporter called it the worst performance by a Nigerian national team.
Under Randy Waldrum’s leadership, the Super Falcons never had the cohesion, focus, or braggadocio that the club is known for.
