20 injured, 1 killed at massive Illinois Juneteenth celebration

At least one person was shot early on Sunday morning in Willowbrook, Illinois, resulting in at least one death and 20 injuries.

According to witnesses, the shooting occurred at around 12:30 in the morning during a Juneteenth party that descended into violence in a parking lot.

It was planned to be a Juneteenth party, but when we heard firing, we ducked until it was over. They simply continued on. We literally dispersed after that, a witness named Markeshia Avery told the ABC network.

Up until the early hours of the morning, there was a significant police presence on the area. After the large celebration that descended into violence, debris and trash were left behind.

Craig Lotcie, a witness, stated, “We were all just out, and the next thing you know shots just kept going off; everybody ran, and it was chaos.”
