Missing Titanic sub found: No survivors after catastrophic implosion

Rear Admiral John Mauger of the US Coast Guard stated on Thursday that the Titanic-bound submarine that vanished on Sunday with five persons on board experienced a “catastrophic implosion,” killing everyone on board.

“The debris is consistent with a catastrophic implosion of the vessel,” Mauger told reporters.

“This is a very sad time for the entire explorer community, and for each of the family members of those lost at sea,” the company wrote.

The vessel’s owner, OceanGate, had stated on Thursday that the five crew members – four tourists and the CEO of the firm who was operating the submersible – were thought to have perished.

“We now believe that our CEO Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, have sadly been lost,” the company said in a statement.

At the news briefing on Thursday, a Coast Guard representative praised the extensive search efforts that produced the results.

“We’ve really had the right gear on site and worked as swiftly as possible to bring all of the capabilities we had to bear to this search and rescue effort,” the official said.

Businessman Dawood, whose kid is 19 years old, is Pakistani-British. The 77-year-old French explorer Gargeolet and the British billionaire Harding are both adventurers.
