When a pregnant woman’s two-year-old kid got hold of a gun and shot her in the back, the mother and the unborn child both perished, according to the police.

According to the Norwalk Police Department, 31-year-old Laura Ilg called 911 and said that she was 33 weeks pregnant and that her child had shot her.”I am upstairs.” Ilg remarked “I need help” on a 911 call that police later released.

‘Is your front door unlocked?’ the dispatcher asked.

Ilg reportedly responded, “Tell them to break in, please, hurry,” before yelling, per NBC News.

Alek, Ilg’s husband, also made a 911 call to say that she had yelled for him to contact the police.

At 1.14pm on Friday, three minutes after the initial contact, police responded. They broke down the door to the Ohio house and helped as Ilg described what had happened.

She had an urgent C-section after being sent to Fisher Titus Medical Center.

Less than an hour had passed since Ilg’s first 911 call when her unborn child was declared dead. Soon after, according to the police, the mother was declared dead.

The loaded magazine, shot casings, and a SIG Sauer P365 were all found by the police inside the house. The pair informed detectives that the firearm was kept in a nightstand in their bedroom. They also had a rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun in their house.

Although the gun was left out, the child shouldn’t have had access to it. According to David Smith, chief of police in Norwalk. Evidently, she was unaware that he was there in the space at the moment.

A probe is still being conducted. No complaints have been made.

Ilg would have had a son, her second child.

According to Ilg’s obituary, “She always wanted to be a mother and wife.”

She cherished spending time with her family and going to church.

According to her obituary, Ilg was a voracious reader who particularly enjoyed Harry Potter, handicraft, board games, and ‘was a child at heart’.
