‘You’re lucky to go see Burna Boy and Rema- Bill Gates shares daughter’s reaction to his visit to Nigeria
On Wednesday, Bill Gates, the former owner of the world’s largest fortune, expressed his youngest daughter Phoebe’s excitement about his trip to Nigeria and the potential of seeing Afrobeat musicians Burna Boy and Rema.
Today, June 21, while giving the opening remarks at a gathering in Lagos State, Gates recounted the delight his daughter had experienced upon hearing that he was visiting Nigeria and meeting some of the country’s musical icons. Speaking, Gates stated, “My daughter Phoebe told me, “You’re lucky because you get to see Burna Boy and Rema, so I had to look them up…since I’m so ‘cool’,” when she heard I was heading to Nigeria. However, I do recall that the last time I was here, I saw Davido & Wizkid play. Naturally, being in Nigeria,
Gates continued, “because I’m so hip,” that he had to look up Burna Boy and Rema, which made the young innovators and students in the room giggle.
But I also recall that I saw Davido and Wizkid play the last time I was here, and I was quite impressed. My kids believe I’ve moved to a pretty hip location, so,” he stated.
