A horrifying video has captured the moment a screaming mother protected her one-year-old daughter and pet dog from a bull dog attack.

On Richmond Road in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, on September 2, the mother was walking her dog and pushing her one-year-old child in a trike when a Staffordshire bull terrier came charging up to them.

The mom then attempted to get her weeping daughter out of the way as the bull terrier viciously attacked the woman’s dog.

The mother can be heard yelling “take your dog, get off him” in the terrifying video as she tries to move her dog away to protect her daughter.

The woman’s quick thinking and bravery saved her daughter and her dog from even more serious harm. The incident is a reminder of the importance of being vigilant when walking with pets and children.

The staffy’s owner eventually gained control of his pet and moved them aside.

According to Dailymail.co.uk, Dog legislation officer PC Paul Jameson is now urging pet owners to take responsibility for their dogs and to prevent them from escaping.

He said: ‘Your dog is your responsibly.

‘If it attacks someone or causes fear in our communities, you are the one held responsible, you are the one facing prosecution, but your dog could also face being euthanised.

‘If you know your dog can escape your garden, fix it.
