A young girl and her mother were caught stealing from a woman’s handbag during a mass at the Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Honduras. The incident was captured on video and has since gone viral.
At the Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Tegucigalpa, the country’s capital, on Sunday, a child is seen reaching over the row in front and taking what appears to be a cellphone.
As the congregation stood when it was time to stand, the daughter approached her mother and her mother motioned for her to reach into the bag of the person sitting in the row in front of them.
The video has sparked outrage among many Hondurans, who have condemned the theft as disrespectful to the church and to the woman who was robbed. Some people have also called for the girl and her mother to be punished.
The police are investigating the incident and have said that they are looking for the girl and her mother. The police have also asked anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
