The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State and former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has assured party members that the PDP is on course to reclaim power in the state.

Speaking during a Sallah hangout with party stakeholders, women and youth from across Kwara who gathered at his residence to celebrate the festive season with him and his family, Saraki expressed confidence that the next Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya) celebration would be the last one the PDP would observe as an opposition party in the state.

“We have only one more Ileya to celebrate as opposition, Inn Shaa Allah. By the next one after that, we shall be celebrating in Government House,” Saraki declared, drawing loud applause from the crowd.

He thanked the party members, especially the women and youth groups, for their steadfastness, resilience, and commitment to the party’s cause despite the challenges.

According to him, their unwavering dedication is a source of inspiration and a clear sign that victory is near.

While commending them for their endurance, in the face of a harsh economic situation and the anti-masses policies by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kwara, Saraki emphasised that the PDP is committed to rescuing the state from poor governance and repositioning it for the benefit of all Kwarans.

While charging the party faithful to remain united to be able to kick out the ruling government, he also stressed the need for them to work towards ensuring that the young ones register in the ongoing membership registration exercise.

The Waziri Ngeri thanked those who honoured him with their presence, saying “I value moments like this—sharing the festive season with our people, having meaningful conversations, and celebrating together.”

The Ilorin residence of former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, was a beehive of activities as party stakeholders, women, youth groups and Kwarans from across the state converged at the GRA residence to celebrate the Sallah festivity with him and his family.

The attendees, in their colourful and customised attires, had started gathering at the expansive premises of the Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate as early as 9am, to be part of the fanfare tagged #SallahHangoutWithSaraki.

Various music bands were also on the ground to entertain those present with local music and drums.

Defying the rain, the excited crowd danced all day to the rhythm of the beats. They also showered encomium on their political leader, who, in the company of his wife, Barrister Toyin Saraki, was given a thunderous ovation when he joined the event.

As part of activities lined up for the Sallah Hangout with Saraki, a medical outreach team positioned at the residence of the former Senate President, also offered medical services to young and old members of the public, free of charge.
