SarakiAt63: 63 years of Leadership, Service and Legacy
As former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, clocks 63, tributes have continued to pour in, with admirers describing him as a bridge builder, humanitarian and a leader whose impact transcends politics.
In a statement issued on Friday to mark the birthday, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, the Press Officer on Local Matters said the former Kwara State governor had distinguished himself through compassion, service to humanity and commitment to unity.
According to the statement, Saraki’s influence cuts across ethnic, religious and political divides, noting that he has consistently built bridges and nurtured individuals, especially in Kwara State and beyond.
“Dr Saraki is more than a politician; he is a human developer who spots potential, builds people and opens doors for others to succeed,” Abdulqadir said.
The statement noted that Saraki’s relevance and humanitarian impact have remained strong even outside public office, despite political opposition and challenges.
“He continued to serve the people without bitterness, choosing compassion over grudges and forgiveness over resentment,” it added.
Abdulqadir highlighted the interventions of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation, listing projects in water supply, electricity restoration, scholarships, agricultural support, healthcare assistance and welfare programmes for vulnerable families.
He said these initiatives had touched lives across communities in Kwara State, regardless of faith or social status.
The statement also underscored Saraki’s close ties with the Ilorin Emirate and his role as the Waziri Ngeri, describing his relationship with traditional and religious leaders as one built on respect and humility.
It further recalled Saraki’s efforts to sustain and expand the legacy of his late father, Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki, particularly in supporting elderly women through regular welfare and healthcare assistance.
“At 63, Dr Saraki remains committed to service, leadership and humanity, with a legacy that continues to shape lives and inspire hope,” Abdulqadir said.
Saraki, a two-term governor of Kwara State and former Senate President, is regarded as one of the state’s most influential political figures.
