Video: How Caleb White Collapsed & Died Suddenly At 17 During Workout

According to his granddad, Caleb White, 17, fell ill at 1:15 p.m. while working out with his buddies.

“Our whole family was really looking forward to his upcoming senior season and afterwards, playing for a D-1 school and then perhaps the NBA. But…..it wasn’t meant to be,” his grandfather added.

He collapsed suddenly, and paramedics took him to the hospital, but they were unable to save him.
White averaged 20.9 points, 3.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game for Pinson Valley High School, making him a standout three-star basketball prospect.

Although his exact cause of death is currently unknown, an autopsy will be carried out on Friday.

According to DailyMail, The school’s principal Michael Turner released a statement shared with parents after the tragedy.

‘I unfortunately have some very sad news to report tonight,’ Turner wrote. ‘One of our senior students suffered a medical emergency at school today. Life saving efforts were immediately started and first responders were called.

‘Sadly, the student was later pronounced deceased after being transported to the hospital. Out of respect for the family, we are not releasing the name of the student at this time,’ he said.

‘We will have more to say in the near future. Please know counseling resources will be available for anyone who needs them in the coming days. Please keep the student’s family and our school in your prayers.’

He was the team’s captain for his last year of high school and was a shooting guard as well as a point guard.
