Thabo Thomas Bester is still alive after escaping from prison, according to a picture given by well-known journalist Keabetswe.
According to Groundup.org.za, On 3 May 2022, the Department of Correctional Services announced that Bester had been found dead in his cell at the Mangaung Correctional Centre, a maximum security private prison operated by multinational security company G4S. A fire had broken out and a dead body was found under a burnt mattress.
