Amanda Bynes released from mental health facility following public incident of walking on the streets

Former child actress Amanda Bynes has been released from a mental health facility after a three-week stay following erratic behavior and a unclothed stroll around Los Angeles. The 37-year-old checked out of the facility on her own accord and will now enter an outpatient treatment program to maintain the progress she made while receiving inpatient care.

According to reports, Bynes worked with the staff at the facility to determine that she was ready to return to her regular routine. She will reportedly be moving back into her own home and will have more freedom to make her own decisions as she is no longer under a conservatorship that had been in place since 2013.

The conservatorship ended last year, and Bynes’ parents were not considering setting up another one as she had been doing relatively well before her recent mental health crisis. The original arrangement began in 2013 after the actress was involuntarily committed following multiple run-ins with the law.

Bynes had two hit-and-runs and a DUI in 2012, and she was arrested in 2013 for allegedly throwing a bong out of the window of her 36th-floor apartment in Manhattan. Her most recent hospitalization occurred after she reportedly wandered the streets of Greater Los Angeles for four days straight after her car was towed on March 15. During that time, she was apparently in a manic state and spent some time walking around uncloth

A witness reportedly saw Bynes walking on the street on the day that she entered the treatment facility. She had flagged down a car to get help, called 911, and reported that she was coming out of a psychotic state and needed assistance. After being picked up, Bynes was initially placed under a 72-hour psychiatric hold, which was later extended as her mental health care team devised a treatment plan for her.

Amid her mental health struggles, Bynes’ ex-fiancé, Paul Michael, was banned from having any contact with her by her parents after their four-year relationship ended in January of this year. An insider reported that Bynes’ family had nothing good to say about Michael and did not want him around her. Michael claimed they were now friends but also stated that Bynes was off her medication and “wild.”
