Nigerian footballer Akinkunmi Amoo jailed for s£xually as*aulting three women in Denmark
Akinkunmi Amoo, a former star for the Golden Eaglets and current forward for FC Copenhagen of Denmark, who has been dubbed the “Nigerian Messi” in the past, has been sentenced to one year in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing three women by a Danish court.
Amoo was first taken into custody on September 10, 2022, and was later freed on bond on October 7, 2022, not long after Danish authorities had filed criminal accusations against him.
On Friday, June 23, 2023, Amoo was given a verdict by a Danish court, according to the Danish daily Ekstra Bladet.
The newspaper reported on the verdict in the football player’s trial and said;
This is the outcome of the trial, which has been ongoing for the majority of June, in which a prominent Danish football player was accused of rape in a sexual relationship other than an intimate relationship, as well as of trying to rape and assaulting two additional women.
He was found guilty on all three crimes in the Copenhagen District Court on Friday afternoon by a dissenting magistrate, and the guy was distraught as he heard the verdict while standing in the middle of the courtroom.
“A one-year, unconditional prison term. Because the defense and the convicted appealed the judgement immediately, the name prohibition in the same case was extended. The court rejected Ekstra Bladet’s arguments against the ongoing name restriction.
Amoo is anticipated to challenge the verdict.
