Man beaten to d3ath for allegedly making blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammad in Sokoto
Usman Buda, a middle-aged guy, was killed by a mob earlier today, June 25, after reportedly uttering derogatory remarks about the Prophet Muhammad.
According to ASP Ahmad Rufai, the command’s spokeswoman, who confirmed the incident to reporters, at around 9.20am today, police received a distress call claiming that the dead, a butcher, had been beaten and swarmed by some Muslim devotees who had caused him significant injuries.”The Commissioner of Police, Area Commander Metro, and DPO Kwani led a team of police officers and all other operational commanders to the area as soon as they received the information. The victim was found unconscious and the mob had fled the scene when help arrived. He was transferred to Usmanu Danfodio Teaching Hospital Sokoto (UDUTH) for treatment, where he subsequently passed away.
Rufai reported that the area is now calm. He said that CP Ali Hayatu Kaigama, the state’s chief of police, had urged the public to go about their legitimate business and not to panic because things were under control.
Meanwhile, he stated, “Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the offenders and hold them accountable.”
