A leaked body cam footage has sparked a lot of discussion online after it showed rapper King Von asking police for protective custody because of his love life. The footage was filmed in 2019 after Von was involved in a shooting.
In the footage, Von tells the officers that he is gay and asks for protective custody because he is worried about being attacked in jail. The officers seem surprised by Von’s revelation, but they eventually agree to put him in protective custody.
The video has generated a lot of debate online, with some people endorsing Von and others chastising him for coming forward during a police inquiry. The public was not previously aware of Von’s orientation, and he never came out. He did, however, make certain musical allusions.
In my opinion, he is smart. If he knows he has opps in jail and can tell a lie to the officers to have him protected then he’s beating the odds.
All this shows is how street smart he was. He ahead of the game 🤣
Its a 48 hour long documentary out about the murders this man did by himself… is this supposed to make him seem less dangerous to us or something???
The Chicago Police Department has not responded to the video in any way. The department has a policy of keeping silent about active investigations.
Why the video was leaked is still a mystery. Some have claimed that it was released by someone who wished to humiliate Von or tarnish his reputation. Some people have hypothesized that it was leaked by someone who wished to increase awareness of how LGBTQ+ people are treated by the criminal justice system.
